Flavonoids

Flavonoids Rutin.jpg

#Flavonoids

DEFINITION

Rutin is a flavonoid, and a complex sugar called a glycoside.  Flavonoids are plant melanin, the pigments we find in plants, as well as the 'collagen' we find in fruits like an orange.  I’m defining the white parts of a citrus fruit, the webbing that keeps it all together, and the white part of the rind, as plant collagen.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flavonoid

Its easy to imagine the protective and strengthening effect a plant gets from its pigment and collagen, in the same way that we need collagen to keep our body tightly bound, and melanin/pigment in our skin to protect us from the sun, and to detox.

There are three kinds of flavonoids:

Bioflavonoids, including rutin
Isoflavonoids
Neoflavonoids

In this article, I concentrate mostly on rutin, which I find to be the most readily available in foods and supplements, and the most researched flavonoid.

I have found no research that shows we could be chronically or acutely poisoned from ingesting too much rutin. They're have been studies where rats were given the human equivalent of about 20 grams a day, and there were no toxic effects.

http://journals.sagepub.com/doi/abs/10.3181/00379727-64-15781

The one caveat is that rutin may thin the blood so much that it can cause a pregnant woman to have a miscarriage.  If you are pregnant, talk to your doctor before supplementing with rutin.

HISTORY

Rutin is named after the herb rue, ruta graveolens, which has a long history of use in human culture and medicine.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ruta_graveolens

Our ancestors new the importance of rutin, just like the ancient Romans and the Indians of the Northwest knew of the importance of fish oil to land-locked humans more than 6000 years ago.
The Power Of iodine

At one time flavonoids were collectively called Vitamin P.  There appears to have been found 4000-8000 different types of flavonoids.  It is claimed that flavonoids are no longer called Vitamin P because there is no definitive Flavonoid.  It appears that they, whoever is pulling the strings behind the scenes, just decide to leave flavonoids on the shelf, and not name it anything.  Maybe it will just ‘go away?’

If Flavonoids are so great, why haven't we heard more about them? My take is that it is not profitable for the drug industry because it is actually a cure for so many of our problems.  Flavonoids may literally work too well, and they have no cases where it is hurting people, so they just don't talk about it.

In this Wikipedia article, rutin is dismissed as a kind of 'thing' that somebody will study at some point in the future, when we they have the time to do it.
“Rutin (rutoside or rutinoside) and other dietary flavonols are under preliminary clinical research for their potential biological effects, such as in reducing post-thrombotic syndrome, venous insufficiency, or endothelial dysfunction, but there was no high-quality evidence for their safe and effective uses as of 2016.”

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rutin

Compare that to the little bit of history I could find about Vitamin P, and the only way I found this was to look up the history of the 1936 Noble Prize winner for discovering vitamin C, Albert Szent-Gyorgi, who also discovered Flavonoids, and then spent the next 40 years studying them.
http://historyofsciences.blogspot.com/2012/06/discovery-of-flavonoid.html

Flavonoids help the body utilize Vitamin C more efficiently, as well as help produce collagen (the skin’s main building blocks).  There are more than 130 registered therapeutic medicinal preparations containing rutin.

Clearly, Wikipedia is not giving us the full story.

SOURCES

The best sources of rutin would be eating fruits, vegetables, and herbs in their natural states.  However, many of us are dealing with large-scale poisonings, and we may need concentrated forms of rutin, to return more quickly to our homeostasis, our natural, un-poisoned state.

Rutin and other bioflavonoids are found in:
asparagus
buckwheat
broccoli
brussel sprouts
fruit
fruit rinds, especially citrus fruits
berries
apple peels
black tea
rooibos tea

Here is a list of some additional sources of rutin.

This article lists three different forms of flavonoids, Quercetin, Rutin, and Curcurmin.  Curcurmin is Turmeric.  Keep taking turmeric if you are already using it.

There is a little bit of misinformation here, although I like that they say it can prevent cancer.  It is not exactly clear how a flavonoid like rutin works, and it is not a nutrient.  It is more involved in cell signaling, and structure, and it may be our basic substrate.

BENEFITS OF RUTIN

The following article has a large list of supplemental benefits of rutin.  Look for the prefix ‘ANTI’, as the authors add it to just about everything.  Anti-cancer, anti-diabetes, anti-inflammatory, etc.

If rutin makes every drug that much more effective, and there are no negative reports for rutin, then we don’t need more drugs, do we?  Maybe we just need more rutin.

Here is a breakdown, in alphabetical order, of the research I have discovered in regards to the benefits of rutin on disease.

AMMONIA

Rutin is clearing out the ammonia, and for many people, left over ammonia metabolites are a big problem.

ANTI-INFLAMMATORY ACTIVITY

I’m giving some lengthy quotes here because they are so good.  These articles also list other benefits of rutin.

Rutin Supplement Health Benefit by Ray Shahelian
“Rutin inhibits platelet aggregation, making the blood thinner and improves circulation… Rutin inhibits metabolic aldose reductase activity.  Aldose reductase is an enzyme normally present in the eye and elsewhere in the body.  It helps change glucose (sugar - glucose) into a sugar alcohol called sorbitol.  Too much sorbitol trapped in eye and nerve cells can damage these cells, leading to retinopathy and neuropathy. Substances that prevent or slow the action of aldose reductase are being studied as a way to prevent or delay these complications of diabetes. Aldose reductase is the first enzyme in the sorbitol pathway. This pathway is responsible for the conversion of glucose to sorbitol, and of galactose to galactitol. Under conditions of hyperglycemia, sorbitol accumulation occurs. Aldose reductase inhibitors prevent the accumulation of intracellular sorbitol.”

http://www.raysahelian.com/rutin.html

The Natural Health Benefits of Rutin
“One key benefit of rutin is its ability to strengthen the lining of the blood vessels throughout the body to reduce bleeding and prevent them from collapsing.  One way it accomplishes this is through oxerutins, which are a group of flavonoid chemicals derived from naturally occurring rutin and which have been used in European supplements since the 1960s for treating and preventing varicose veins and leg ulcers.  According to University of Maryland Medical Center, “A number of studies have shown that flavonoids that come from rutin relieve swelling, aching, and pain from varicose veins.”  Because rutin strengthens arteries and veins, it is also used to help treat hemorrhoids, internal bleeding, and to help prevent hemorrhagic strokes.

What’s more, studies show that rutin may also be able to stop the formation of blood clots (thrombosis) altogether. This would be quite a health benefit, as thrombosis is one of the leading causes of death in the US. Not only can blood clots cause heart attacks and strokes, but deep venous thrombosis (DVT) and pulmonary embolisms as well.  Rutin is proving to be very effective with blood clots because it helps treat and prevent clots in both arteries and veins.  Clots in arteries are platelet-rich and clots in veins are fibrin-rich.  A study published in the Harvard Gazette suggests that this could be a safe alternative to aspirin, Plavix, and warfarin (Coumadin).  The authors add that even while on these drugs, each year there are approximately 400,000 recurrent episodes among patients who previously experienced a stroke or heart attack.  “Rutin proved to be the most potently anti-thrombotic compound that we ever tested,” said Robert Flaumenhaft, an investigator in the Division of Hemostasis and Thrombosis at BIDMC and associate professor of medicine at Harvard Medical School.”

ARTHRITIS

The following article is another great source of rutin research.
Rutin Health Benefits
“The anti-inflammatory activities of three flavonoids were investigated in rats using the Mizushima et al. model of acute and chronic inflammation. Intraperitoneal administration of rutin, quercetin (flavonols) and hesperidin (flavanone), given at daily doses equivalent to 80 mg/kg, inhibited both acute and chronic phases of this experimental model of inflammation. Rutin was the most active in the chronic phase.”

INFLAMMATORY BOWEL DISEASE

This is an incredibly well researched article, with 135 listed references.  Unfortunately, they come to an insipid conclusion.  Is it because it would put the funders of their studies out of business?  I don’t know about you, but with my lifetime of bowel troubles, I’m taking my rutin.

Flavonoids in Inflammatory Bowel Disease: A Review
“The different studies performed with flavonoids focused on their intestinal anti-inflammatory effect can definitively support their consideration as potential treatments for human IBD.  In fact, flavonoids have shown efficacy in experimental models and their mechanisms of action are similar to those described for drugs currently used in human therapy.  Besides, their consumption in edible vegetables from ancient times makes them a safe strategy.  However, there is a clear demand for clinical trials to confirm their actual role in the treatment of these intestinal inflammatory conditions.  Most of the studies carried out in humans consider the use of plants containing flavonoids, and they have shown that these plants may induce clinical remission and clinical response in patients with IBD, although more studies including larger number of patients are required to achieve more solid conclusions.  Nevertheless, a pilot study has been carried out to evaluate the efficacy of the oral administration of EGCG and has reported beneficial effects on UC patients refractory to 5-ASA and/or azathioprine. Further clinical studies should definitely be done to elucidate the efficacy and safety of the different flavonoids in these intestinal inflammatory conditions and to finally consider them as solid therapeutic strategies.”

THE DARK PROTEOME

If you read the article above about Albert Gyorgi, you will notice that he describes the looks of the protein as a ‘swiss chocolate.'  This darkness, this coloration keeps popping up on the radar screen.  Its in our brains as neuromelanin, and that's why our substantia nigra, notice nigra, is called nigra, black, because that part of our body should be loaded with it.

There are two definitive cases where our brain is not loaded with dark pigment and they are in the first 3 years of our lives, and in the case of Parkinson's, where the substantia nigra and reticulum are depleted of their naturally dark coloration. The substantia nigra is where we have control over our motor functions, our bodily movements.

Babies and people with Parkinson's do not have motor control and/or hand eye coordination. I don't want to go to deep into this here, but we have no business putting neurotoxins into little children for the simple fact that neuromelanin helps us detox heavy metals, and a child has no way to detox heavy metals out of the brain without neuromelanin.  Human children don’t produce neuromelanin in their brains until between 2 and 3 years of age.

MY HISTORY WITH RUTIN

I took Bioflavonoids for years for my almost constant stomach pain for a duodenal ulcer, probably caused by H. Pylori.  I stopped using them several years ago as I felt that they were treating a symptom, and they weren't solving the problem.

Now I understand, I need bioflavonoids everyday, like I breathe, eat, and drink water everyday.

Taking loads of supplements, without flavonoids, is like trying to build a building, where we have all the parts, the bricks, the wood for the frame and floors, the buckets of paint, even the piping, the furnace, but we are missing the glue and nails and solder that put it all together.

Flavonoids give us that interstitial space between the goodness.  The white parts of the citrus that holds the whole fruit together, those almost collagen looking parts that wall off the sections of an orange, there is a lot of misinformation about them.

This reminds me of how in anatomy they would basically dissect a body with the intention of getting to the organs, and say "Let's get this white webbing stuff out of the way," the messentery, without understanding its true purpose.

SUMMARY

.If you are taking huge amounts of supplements, and your condition, and your symptoms never seem to change, you may be deficient in flavonoids.

Flavonoids are not something that can be measured.  There is no hair, or blood test for recording your ‘flavonoid’ levels.  This is because the body readily breaks up flavonoids for immediate use.

During our lifetimes, many of us grew broken, like humpty dumpty who fell off the wall.  We were supposed to have more energy from our magnesium.  The sulfur we started ingesting was supposed to help us recover our skin, and inflamed intestines.  The Iodine we have been taking doesn’t really seem to give us newfound energy, and our body temperature remains low, or we get constant hot flashes.

To connect these essentials together, to have our body put them to good use, we may need a substantial increase in flavonoids.  Flavonoids are the workers behind the scenes in our factory, our body.  They are the mortar between the bricks.  We may be taking all the supplements in the world, but without flavonoids, the glue to put us, our model humans back together, we may feel like a box of mismatched parts.

I’m currently taking 1 gram of rutin flavonoid everyday.

Mercury Depression

TWP-Mercury Depression.png

#MercuryDepression

Depression is mercury poisoning.  It's called Labile emotions, Mania. The Healthcare industry makes their big money, this is pharmaceuticals, treating the symptoms of mercury poisoning.

As the mercury moves around in the body, the person is literally being attacked by a terrorist that jumps out of the closet at random. So what we are doing in group takes away the depression, because it takes away the mystery. The subject, YOU, the human, then recognizes when you are going to have a bad reaction, and this is 90% of the ballgame.

For example, I'm taking a lot of sufur, or I ate garlic. I am having a bad reaction. I have mobilized a lot of mercury. I need to slow down, or flush my liver, or go back down the ladder with the protocol and start all over.

Eli Lilly, the company the invented Thimerosal, the one that puts the mercury in vaccines, their number one selling class of drugs is antidepressants.

Here is a good example of the 3 stages of a pharmakon

1. ZIKA is coming to get you.  Take this poison to protect yourselves.

2. "Doc, I don't feel so good."  Treat only the symptoms of the poisoning.

3. I have chronic Lyme.  My son has autism.  I am in pain all the time.  "We don't know what's wrong with you, go away."  When the person grows too poisoned, the person is shunned, and blamed for his or her own condition.

They have found the perfect solution for the 3rd stage of their poisonings.  They blame it on genetics.

"Mercury is neurotoxic (kills or damages brain and nerve cells); generates high levels of reactive oxygen species (ROS) and oxidative stress, depletes gluatathione and thiols—causing increased neurotoxicity from interactions of ROS, glutamate, and dopamine; kills or inhibits production of brain tubulin cells; inhibits production of neurotransmitters by inhibiting calcium-dependent neurotransmitter release, dihydroteridine reductase, nitric oxide synthase; blocks neurotransmitter amino acids; and effects phenylalanine, tyrosine and tryptophan transport to neurons. Toxic metals as well as genetic factors commonly cause systemic methylation deficiencies, which are documented to commonly be a factor in chronic conditions, such as depression, autism, etc."

A Good Health Protocol

For good health I religiously adhere to the following protocol.  Everyone can take these products; even people who still have amalgam (mercury) dental fillings.  However, I want to start with a warning.

Do NOT take acetaminophen/paracetamol, or anything containing them.  Read labels carefully.  Be extremely careful of any OTC medicine.  Acetaminophen is a reductase inhibitor, meaning it won’t let your liver detoxify.  It’s made from coal.  Throw this stuff in the garbage.  It’s purposely designed so that your body can NOT get rid of the toxins that are making you sick.  It ‘work’s by preventing you from reacting to offending allergens.  Tylenol contains acetaminophen.  Nyquil contains acetaminophen.  Sudafed contains acetaminophen.  Antidepressants contain acetaminophen or some other type of reductase inhibitor. Statins will not let your body detoxify.

In this blog I go into details on the dangers of Tylenol and Acetaminophen.
http://www.mercuryfreekids.org/mercury101/toxic-tylenol
Here is a list of 3 things that I do everyday.

1.  I take a high dose buffered ascorbate.  High dose vitamin C has been given a bad wrap.  The only creatures that don’t make vitamin C are the guinea pig, the monkey, and the human.  You can’t take too much vitamin C.  Do you know what happens if you take too much vitamin C?  Your body flushes out accumulated intestinal toxins.  Hasta La Vista, Baby!
http://www.mercuryfreekids.org/mercury101/2016/3/19/mercury-dump

2.  PABA has been given a bad wrap.  The healthcare-industry misinformation campaign is never clear on how PABA supposedly poisons us.  Yet, they use PABA to determine if a person is sick by feeding the person PABA, then testing the urine to see how much PABA is released.  If PABA is retained by the patient, and not in the urine, they then recommend some of their patented for-profit medicines.  The only reason a person would retain PABA was if their body needed it!

Take a one gram a day of PABA to feed the bacteria in your belly.  If you are currently on antibiotics, do NOT take PABA.  Read this link to understand how PABA works.  Think of PABA as needed vitamins for your good bacteria.
http://www.mercuryfreekids.org/mercury101/2016/7/20/the-paba-efficacy-of-treating-infections

3.  It’s important to make and eat your own sauerkraut, and it's easy to do.  Most store bought sauerkraut is pasteurized, so there is nothing living in the jar.  You want good living bacteria in your belly, and prebiotic sauerkraut is the best source.  Think of sauerkraut as needed fodder for your workhorse bacteria.

Chop a head of cabbage into fine pieces, and put them into a wide-mouth glass gallon jar.  Set this jar onto a plate.  Add water and set a glass tumbler filled with water inside the mouth of the jar to keep the sauerkraut submerged.  The glass should stick up out of the jar about an inch.  Let a little water from within the jar run over the edge and onto the plate.

24 hours later pour the sauerkraut water down the sink with your hand over the mouth of the jar to keep the sauerkraut inside.  Refill the jar with water and pour it out again.  You are washing away the gaseous bacteria.

Again, fill the jar with water.  Add two tablespoons of sea salt.  Do not use iodized salt; the good bacteria will not grow.  Put a lid on the gallon jar and shake it to distribute the salt.  Set the jar back onto the plate, remove the lid, and again set the glass tumbler in the mouth of the jar to submerge the sauerkraut.  72 hours later test your sauerkraut.  I do this with a pair of chopsticks.

You cannot get poisoned from your sauerkraut.  I was conditioned to believe that the only thing safe to eat is dead food in safety sealed packaging from a corporation.

The healthcare industry has us convinced that we make ourselves sick by worrying, or that we have a nervous disposition.  We don’t get ulcers from worrying; we get ulcers from unhealthy bacterial microbiomes warring with one another.  Experiencing these wars stresses us out.  Clean up the gut bacteria, and the stress goes away on it’s own.

For optimal health, I recommend products that are natural to our well-being, and only ones that can be found in the grocery or health food store.  Everything I recommend I do myself.  Everything I do is on my website, and everyone can use my site to get back to good health, naturally.  However, some people can be very deep in the woods, allergic to just about everything, while suffering from chronic pain and inflammation.  Many times their intestines are a wreck, and their body is putting on weight to protect itself from toxins.  Getting people back to a state of well being, naturally, takes time, patience, attention to detail, and experience.

Who is Eli Lilly?

From the early 1900’s through the 1950’s,

Eli Lilly marketed baby teething powders with Calomel.

However, many of these infants suffered horribly.  Doctors named the condition Acrodynia, or

Pink Disease

because it turns the hands and feet pink.

Many infants died from Pink Disease, and many were left with lifelong debilitating conditions.

In fact, so many children died that the American and British governments had to pass laws outlawing Calomel.

The chief ingredient in Calomel is mercuric chloride.

Eli Lilly has made Thimerosal since 1927.  Thimerosal is used in vaccines and

antiseptic ointments, creams, jellies, sprays, nasal sprays, eye drops, and contact lens solutions.

Thimerosal contains mercury.  Mercury rarely remains un-bonded to other elements, readily bonding with sulfur in the human body.  Mercury is an extremely dangerous neurotoxin in any form.  Some of the major symptoms of mercury poisoning are anxiety and depression.  For anxiety and depression, doctors often prescribe antidepressants like Prozac.  Who do you think invented Prozac?  Eli Lilly?  YES!

What is the 2nd most profitable classification of drugs for Eli Lilly?

Diabetes drugs of course.
